Annie Duke, also known as the Duchess of Poker, was born at Concord, New Hampshire on September 13 of 1965. She graduated in English and psychology, but in the early 90s, when she was up to finish her degree, left her studies. With her brother’s help, poker player and poker teacher, Howard Lederer, she started to get into the poker world by playing at illegal rooms.

On 1994, Annie plays at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas where she ends at the thirteenth place leaving her brother out of the game. Thereafter she moves to dedicate her life to poker. In the next decade Annie becomes one of the best poker players being named as the Duchess of Poker or just The Duchess. She won her first WSOP Bracelet on 2004, a $2.000 Omaha High-Low tournament.

Other conquests include a first place at the 2004 September tournament, Champions Tournament ESPN World Series of Poker, with a $2.000.000 prize. She also won a second place at the World Series of Poker Limit Hold’em on 1999 and 2003, a second place at the Five Star World Poker Classic Omaha High Low at the Bellagio and a sixth place at the 2003 World Series of Poker High Low.

Nowadays, Duke is a consultant at a much known internet gambling site. Besides, she has instructed famous poker amateurs such as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. She also has written an autobiographical book called `How I raised, folded, bluffed, flirted, cursed and won millions at the World Series of Poker’ which is a success among her fans and poker amateurs. From 2008, Annie has a record for being the woman who has earned more money at the World Series of Poker.
